An adventure for aspiring rock and mineral enthusiasts to learn about the origin and identification of river rocks in the Santiam River basin. Suitable for fit individuals prepared for hiking on riverbanks and in the river while collecting rocks for 2-3 miles. Please come prepared with good footwear for hiking and wading, lunch and plenty of water. This hike leaves from the Sweet Home Ranger District office at scheduled time (9:00AM).
Please come prepared for a day on the river, including lunch, water, and good footware for wading. If you have it, then bring along a rock identification book, rock hammer, and hand lens.
