Tours are available Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If any of those days are showing as unavailable (shaded gray) then tours are sold out for that day.
There is a limited schedule and capacity for tours at this time. If the day your are visiting is sold out, please visit our webpage to learn about the many ways you can still enjoy a visit. A video is available on-site for visitors unable to take a tour. The park is located on 270 acres with 5 miles of trails and a goat dairy farm (open 10am-3pm daily). Taking a guided tour of the historic Carl Sandburg Home is an insightful glimpse into the lives of the Sandburg family. Tours of the home include access to 11 furnished rooms over the top two floors of the three story house. Tours are free ($1.00 processing fee applies) as we welcome visitors back to the Sandburg Home!

All tours begin at the park store in the ground floor of the Sandburg Home. Visitors should check-in 15 minutes prior to tour time.
*The pedestrian bridge at Front Lake, where the main parking lot is located, is closed. Visitors entering the park from the main parking lot will need to add a 0.4 mile walk to detour around the lake when they enter. Visit https://www.nps.gov/carl/planyourvisit/parking.htm to learn about parking and entrance options.
*A shuttle is available from the main parking lot to the Sandburg Home Thursday-Sunday from 10am to 4pm. It picks up in the lot every 20 minutes.
ARRIVE AT THE PARK 30-45 MINUTES BEFORE THE START OF YOUR TOUR.
Example: If you reserve a tour at 1:00 pm, you should plan to arrive in a parking lot by 12:30 pm, walk to the house, and check-in for your tickets by 12:45 pm.
What if there are not enough tickets left for my family/group on the day I'm visiting, can they be accomodated without a ticket?
No. Tour capacity is 6 persons regardless of age. All tickets are available for advance reservation. We are not able to accomodate guests without a ticket. There is a firm capacity of 6 persons on each tour.
