Located in the northern part of Yellowstone National Park, the Tower Junction to Slough Creek road corridor offers access to hiking, fishing, auto touring, and wildlife watching. Beginning August 3, 2022 through October 31, 2022, day use visitors to Slough Creek will need a reservation to visit this section of road.
Day use visitors may obtain a ticket to enter at any time during the morning window (8:00 am – 12:00 pm MT) or during the afternoon window (12:00 pm – 4:00 pm MT). Day use visitors should plan to exit the area by 4:30 pm MT. Visitors must print, download, or screenshot their ticket prior to arriving in Yellowstone. There is no cell service or connectivity at Tower Junction and limited cell service in the park.
Overnight backcountry permit holders and approved commercial guides do not need a reservation to enter the Tower Junction to Slough Creek corridor. Approved commercial guides and backcountry permit holders will need to show their permit or guide card.
Reservations for private vehicles driving between Tower Junction and Slough Creek are required from August 3, 2022 – October 31, 2022.
This reservation provides access to the Tower Junction-Slough Creek road corridor only. Ticket holders can only enter the park via the East, South, or West entrances and pay the park entrance fee at that time. The Tower Junction road corridor cannot be accessed through the North and Northeast entrances. These road corridors are closed to visitor vehicular traffic.
Visitors must print, download, or screenshot their ticket prior to arriving in Yellowstone. There is no cell service or connectivity at Tower Junction.
Visitors booking the 8:00 am window may enter between 8:00 am- 12:00 pm. Visitors booking the 12:00 pm window may enter between 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. All day use visitors with a reservation during either time window may exit any time that same day prior to 4:30 pm.
Visitors may make a reservation for up to 3 vehicles.
Tickets may be reserved up to 2 hours before the entry window starts.
Approved stock outfitters, guides with a Commercial Use Authorization (CUA), and those with backcountry overnight permits do not need a vehicle day use ticket to visit the Tower Junction to Slough Creek road corridor.
A Yellowstone Fishing Permit is required to fish in th e park. Those with fishing permits must additionally obtain a vehicle day use ticket to visit the Tower Junction to Slough Creek road corridor.
When hiking the Slough Creek Trail, be alert for bears and moose. If you encounter horses or horse-drawn wagons on the trail, move to the downhill side of the trail and remain still until they have passed.
Visitors can currently bicycle, hike and fish on a segment of the Northeast Entrance Road between Tower Junction and Slough Creek. Be alert for cyclist and pedestrians.
