Savannah National Wildlife Refuge
All hunters 16 years of age or older are required to purchase and possess this permit when hunting on any of the Savannah Coastal Refuges. Hunters must also purchase and possess a state hunting license and any other required state permits. The permit is valid for the current hunt season only which begins August 15, 2023 (Opening day of South Carolina deer season on Savannah NWR) and ends May 15, 2024 (Closing day of Georgia turkey season at Savannah NWR).
This permit authorizes hunting on the following National Wildlife Refuges only during scheduled hunts:
Hunters are responsible for knowing the specific hunt seasons and/or dates for each refuge in the Complex that they plan to hunt (refer to refuge hunting regulations posted on website links above.)
Due to the potential for hunts to be postponed or cancelled due to tropical storms and hurricanes, we recommend waiting until a week prior to hunting to purchase your permit. The number of permits we issue is unlimited, so there is no benefit to purchasing it early.
Permits are only sold through Recreation.gov. The refuge will not sell permits in-person or by phone. Permits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
