San Bernardino National Forest
This trailhead is located on the west side of HWY 38 (North Shore Drive), just west of Fawnskin, across from Grout Bay Picnic Area. Since this trailhead is within bald eagle habitat, it is closed during nesting season from winter to spring, sometimes extending into summer.
The trail climbs westerly for a half mile until merging with Forest Road 2N04X. Turning north (right), 2N04X joins 2N70. From there it is about 2.75 miles to Gray's Peak, with a quick boulder scramble to the very top.
Enjoy the expansive views to the south of Big Bear Lake!
