Loon Lake is a family-oriented recreation site, treasured by locals for generations. The site offers a myriad of recreational opportunities, including camping, boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, swimming, and waterplay. Visitors can also enjoy relaxing on the warm, sandy beach. Other popular activities at Loon Lake include picnicking, hiking, birding, horseshoe tossing, and barbecuing.
The day use area boasts picnic tables, barbecue grills, swim area, fishing dock, and boat launch. A short, 1/4 mile trail to a waterfall on Elliott State Forest land begins at the south end of the day use area and takes hikers through a quiet and serene segment of old growth forest.
The day pass is only good for the day purchased and permits the use of the day use amenities. A separate boat launch pass is also available for purchase for $3.00. Camping is available by reservation at recreation.gov.
Once on-site, follow the posted Scan & Pay instructions for your day use pass. You will need to download the free Recreation.gov mobile app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service. To purchase onsite, please have the Recreation.gov app downloaded prior to arrival. Once purchased please write down confirmation number on provided fee envelope and post in vehicle dashboard.
For your safety, please remember that parking outside of designated areas is discouraged and visitors who park illegally may be fined and towed. This pass is valid until 8:00 PM of the date listed on the pass, and only for the date and vehicle specified for this pass.
Passes are non-transferrable between operators, non-refundable, not replaceable if lost or stolen, and are void if altered or reproduced.
America the Beautiful Passes: Senior, Access, Military, Gold Star, Veteran, and Golden Age Senior/Access area accepted at this site. These passes cover fees for the passholder and up to three adults per vehicle.
Pets are only allowed in designated area and must be kept on leash.
No watercraft in buoyed swim area.
Boat trailer parking is for trailers only.
Fishing dock is for anglers only. Local state fishing regulations apply.
Any items left past 8:00 pm in Day Use will be removed.
No glass beverages or containers in Day Use Area.
Swim at your own risk, there are no lifeguards on duty.
No diving off rocks.
