An OHV Daniel Boone National Forest recreation pass is required by any OHV using the following trails.
Redbird Crest Trail System
The Redbird Crest Trail is in Southeast KY on the Daniel Boone National Forest-Redbird Ranger District. The trail is located across Clay and Leslie counties. The trail can be accessed via three trail heads: Peabody, Bear Creek, and Sugar Creek. The nearly 100-mile trail is primarily used by OHV riders but is also open to horses, mountain bikers, trail runners and hikers; caution and courtesy must be exercised while sharing the trail. The trail is unimproved dirt, gravel, mud or sand track with uneven terrain in many areas. Trail sections are designated by width for OHV use. Maps are available online and at the District Ranger Station. Long sections of ridgetop views allow for beautiful vistas in the Fall. Use is only allowed on designated trails. A helmet is required. The trail is open year-round.
White Sulphur OHV Trail System
White Sulphur OHV Trail System is composed of Forest Service roads and trails, forming a 17-mile system of connecting loops. Located near Cave Run Lake, the trail is on moderately rugged terrain, primarily following ridgetops. Most of the trail is hardened with gravel to prevent impacts on the watershed. From May 15 to November 30, the trail is open to OHV use. A helmet is required. From December 1 to May 14 it is open to hiking only.
A pass is required for each OHV. Cost is $15 for a one day pass or $60 or an annual pass. All visitors are required to have a pass while using the OHV trails.
If purchasing your pass on site, please download the Recreation.gov app prior to arrival. Once purchased please keep your confirmation with you while using the trail.
