Wolverton Stock Campsites
Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks
Wolverton Stock campsites are centrally located in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in central California's rugged Sierra Nevada range. You are required to have stock animals to camp here. If you reserve a site and do not have stock your reservation will be cancelled with full cancellation fees.
Wolverton Stock campground is an equestrian campground only. It contains 2 sites. Corral, RV parking, and tent site with picnic table and bear food storage box are provided at Wolverton Stock campround. Restroom is located on farside of trailer parking lot. Pay shower and market are located nearby at Lodgepole. (showers closed for 2023)
Notifications and Alerts
MAJOR ROAD REPAIRS AND DELAYS on the Generals Highway this spring. Travel to the Giant Forest area, Lodgepole campground, and to Kings Canyon NP will be delayed due to construction on the Generals Highway if entering through the Sequoia NP entrance station. Need to Know
STOCK SITE REGULATIONS:
Horses or other stock animals are required to camp in these sites. If you reserve a site and do not have stock your reservation will be cancelled with full cancellation fees.
- Upon Arrival check in at Lodgepole campground kiosk.
- Maximum 6 people per site.
- Maximum 10 stock per site.
- Maximum 2 vehicles per site. Overflow parking is available at the Wolverton Trailhead.
- Horse Trailers must enter the Parks through the Big Stump Entrance on Hwy 180.
- Check road conditions at nps.gov/seki
- All horse manure and uneated feed must be raked up and disposed of daily.
- Water trough must be emptied at the end of the stay.
- Users are only permitted to feed commercially processed pellets, rolled grains, fermented hay, or California or Nevada certified weed-free forage (baled or loose hay, hay cubes).
- Stock may not be tied to trees.
- Night limit for these campsites is 7 nights per stay and 14 nights per season.
- Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 6 AM.
- ACTIVE BEAR AREA day and night. Food and scented items must be securely stored.
Natural Features
Lodgepole pine, Red fir, and shrubs forest the campground, while towering groves of giant sequoias and craggy granite peaks dot the landscape. This region is characterized by warm days and cool nights in the summer and deep snow and cold days in the winter
Nearby Attractions
The Giant Forest which contains the majestic sequoia tree, is adjacent to the Wolverton Stock campsites. The Giant Forest Museum is located nearby.
Recreation
Forty miles of hiking trails, including the paved Big Trees Trail, invite visitors to immerse themselves in the majesty of the ancient grove. Several additional popular hiking and wilderness trailheads are close by, including the trail to Moro Rock, a granite dome with spectacular views of the Great Western Divide and western half of the park. Tokopah Falls Trail is an easy walk along the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River, leading to an impressive 1200 ft. waterfall. Fly-fishing is also a popular activity on the Marble Fork. There are also many miles of equestrian trails through the Giant Forest and Lodgepole areas.
Changes & Cancellations
- Payment in full will be charged to your credit card upon completion of the reservation. A $10.00 service fee will apply if you change or cancel your reservation. Additional fees will apply for late cancellations
- All cancellations made between midnight on the day before arrival and check out time on the day after arrival are considered late cancellations and will incur a $10.00 cancellation fee and will also forfeit the first night’s use fee. Cancellations for a single night’s reservation will forfeit the entire use fee but no cancellation fee will apply.

Driving Directions
Vehicles over 22 feet are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum when entering through Sequoia National Park. Vehicles over 22 feet should use the Kings Canyon National Park Entrance. Wolveton Stock Campsites are located off the Generals Highway on Wolverton Road. Wolverton Road is located between Lodgepole campground and the Giant Forest in Sequoia National Park.
