Overview

This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature.

If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service.

Facilities

Two miles northeast of Dunton, Burro Bridge is one of three campgrounds along the West Dolores Road (Forest Rd. 535). The campground has 14 sites with a few shade trees on a sloping hillside above the West Dolores River. 

The campground provides easy access to the Lizard Head Wilderness, but not easy access to the water. 

Services include vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire grates. No trash service is available.

This campground provides limited services from late September through October. Between October and May there are no services (water, trash pick up or restrooms). Please keep the campground clean and pack out any trash!

  • The extended summer season will continue starting 9/28 through 10/19/2025, FCFS only campsites. No Water will be available during this time. Please plan accordingly. Restrooms will still be available. No trash service. "Pack It in - Pack It Out".
