Overview

Baker Creek Campground is one of five developed campgrounds at Great Basin National Park. Intended for those who like to plan on a bit shorter notice, this campground has a short reservation window to accommodate those last second travel plans. Baker Creek is an ideal campground for those seeking out the backcountry with the Baker Lakes Loop Trailhead easily accessible from this location. You’ll find plenty of shade, you’re close to the Lehman Caves Visitor Center for cave tour access, and slightly higher elevation for cooler temps even on scorching days. Experience the full breadth of what the park has to offer from Baker Creek.

Facilities

Baker Creek Campground offers picnic tables, fire pits with attached grills, vault toilets, and multiple ADA accessible sites. Located just off Baker Creek Road, it is nearby the trailhead bearing the same name. Trails towards Grey Cliffs campground and ultimately the Pole Canyon Trail or the Baker Creek Trailhead also leave from the campground, making for easy access to a network of dozens of miles of backcountry access.

Natural Features

Baker Creek Campground is set in a Pinyon-Juniper forested landscape, with the occasional much larger and older ponderosa pine. Find the grey cliffs behind the campground, jutting out from otherwise mild slopes. See Baker Peak and Doso Doyabi from various areas in this little valley.

Recreation

The park offers a variety of trails with views of mountain peaks and alpine lake surrounded by beautiful cliffs at trail's end. Reserve a guided tour of Lehman Caves, take the scenic drive to the face of 13,063 foot Wheeler Peak or see 5,000 year old Bristlecone pine trees grow on rocky glacial moraines. Baer Creek trailhead and Pole Canyon are the two closest trailheads to Baker Creek Campground and are open during the summer months when this campground is open.

Nearby Attractions

Don't forget, Great Basin National Park was forshadowed when Lehman Caves was annointed a National Monument in 1922. The cave and its underground wonders are just a few miles away behind the Lehman Caves Visitor Center. Access is by tour only so be sure to book a reservation before you arrive, or stop by the visitor center to check on remaining availability.

Important Notices

• This is an unstaffed campground. Bring your confirmation paperwork with you or be sure to have your confirmation uploaded onto your cell phone before you arrive (since many cellular providers will not work out here). You may need to be able to verify your reservation.

• There is no potable water available at Baker Creek Campground. Please do not wash dished in creeks or streams.

• Generators may only be used between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. Quiet hours are between the hours of 8:00 pm and 8:00 am.

• Pets must be secured in a vehicle or on a leash of no more than six feet at all times. They must be attended at all times. Pets are not allowed on any trails, or the backcountry, within Great Basin National Park. They may be walked on paved surfaces and any roads legally drivable by vehicle. Please clean up after your pets.

• Refunds will not be provided within 24-hours of the first day of the reservation. Refunds will not be provided due to weather.

Notifications and Alerts

• Effective immediately, Great Basin National Park is in Stage 2 fire restrictions. Until further notice, open fires, outdoor smoking, charcoal grills, or fireworks will not be allowed. Gas or propane appliances that can be switched on and off are still permitted.

Directions

<p>From the east or west: From U.S. Highway 6 & 50, turn south on Nevada State Highway 487 and travel 5 miles to Baker, NV. In Baker turn west on Highway 488 and travel 5 miles to the park. </p> <p>From the south (Utah): Travel north on Utah State Highway 21 through Milford, UT and Garrison, UT, which will become Nevada State Highway 487 as you cross the border. Turn west on Highway 488 in Baker and travel 5 miles to the park. </p> <p>From the south (Nevada): Travel north on U.S. Highway 93 (Great Basin Highway). At the junction of U.S. Highway 6 & 50 drive east to Nevada State Highway 487 and turn south. Travel 5 miles to Baker, NV. In Baker turn west on Highway 488 and travel 5 miles to the park.</p> <p>Once in the park, head towards the Lehman Caves Visitor Center for 0.5 miles and make a left onto Baker Creek Road. Follow Baker Creek Road for 3 miles to reach the campground.</p>

Cancellation Policy

<ul><li><p><strong>No-Shows: </strong>A no-show visitor is one who does not arrive at a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out time on the day after the scheduled arrival date. The remainder of the reservation will be canceled and refunded, less the first night's rate and a $20 service fee.</p></li><li><p>Refunds will not be provided within 24 hours of the first day of the reservation. Refunds will not be provided due to weather.</p></li></ul>
