Overview

This campground is located in a beautiful forested setting, with the Oregon Caves National Momunent located approximately 5 miles further down the road. Several of the campsites are located along Sucker Creek, which also provides cool waters to jump in or just soak your feet in on hot summer days. RevelĀ in the amazing biodiversity that is so unique to the Illinois Valley by venturing out on the 1-mile, family-friendly Grayback Interpretive Trail that leads to Grayback Creek and around the historical Civilian Conservation Corps camp at the Cedar Guard Station.

There is a pleasant day use area with a small amphitheater and a large picnic area, complete with shelters and a fireplace.

Natural Features

Campground features scenic access to Sucker Creek and Grayback Creek, including a popular swimming hole. The area is surrounded by old-growth forests, wildflower-rich riparian zones, and the Grayback Interpretive Trail, with the Oregon Caves National Monument located only 5 miles away.

Recreation

There is hiking, swimming and fishing available at the campground.

Important Notices

    • First come, first serve camping, limited to 14 days.

    • Day use area is reservable through calling the front desk at 541-592-4000.

    • Campfires are allowed in developed Forest Service installed metal fire rings when conditions allow. Learn more about current fire information: https://www.fs.usda.gov/r06/rogue-siskiyou/fire/info

    • Fireworks are prohibited.

    • Camp trailers/RVs are allowed, however no electric or water hookups are available.

    • OHV/ATV use prohibited in campground.

    • Quiet hours between 10pm and 6am.

    • Dogs must be on a leash.

    • There is no cell phone coverage.

    • Must pay via Scan & Pay onsite with the Recreation.gov app. App must be downloaded with cellular service prior to arriving at the campground.
