The Spalding Pond Campground is defined by it's remote mountain setting, dense forest and a freshwater habitat. Spalding Pond is a 3 acre freshwater pond that fills the basin of a historic, 19th century timber mill site.
The campground is mostly shaded by mature mixed conifers and because of it's higher elevation, the pond's microclimate stays significantly cooler than the surrounding, hot Southern Oregon valleys in peak summer.
There is plenty to do at the campground including; non-motorized boating or floating, fishing, swimming and exploring the shoreline.
Spalding Pond Campground is located in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, just outside of Selma, Oregon. It is an ideal basecamp for exploring unique Southern Oregon botanical areas, scenic lakes, and subterranean monuments. Top nearby attractions include Eight Dollar Mountain Botanical Area, Lake Selmac County Park, Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve, and the Wild and Scenic Illinois River.
