Part of White River National Forest
Windy Point Group Site has two sites for reservation: Lake Loop and Forest Loop. Both loops can accommodate tents, trailers, and RV's within the designated area on hardened gravel surfaces only. There is no electric hook-ups but potable water is available at a spigot in each loop. Boat launch access is via several marinas along the east shore of Lake Dillon to the shoreline at the Lake Loop.
The shoreline is available for public use and there are several trails which travel through the campground and terminate at the lakeshore. Keep this in mind when considering this site, it is not a private facility, the public may be along the shoreline, walking the trails or walking the road during your event.
Please read the rules you have agreed to as a renter. This site is on the White River National Forest. Please enjoy your event and treat the environment with respect.

-All vendor deliveries must adhere to these timeframes
-Motorized, electric, or mechanized vehicles are prohibited off the designated road/ parking area. You must walk.
- All food and beverages must be stored correctly in locked vehicles or the sheds provided – bears are not invited to the party.
-Camping is not allowed in the trees, up the hill or anywhere off the gravel or hardened areas.
-Commercial delivery of RV’s/Campers is prohibited.
-Quiet hours are 10pm to 6am – be respectful of others.
- All decorations are temporary, do not affix them to trees or any other natural vegetation. Remove all decorations.
-You do not have exclusive use of the national forest around Windy Point, there are trails and shorelines that the public will be wandering around – be respectful and share.
-Ground disturbance of any kind is prohibited.
-Releasing or throwing any item is prohibited e.g. rice, seeds, flowers, animals, birds, etc.
Lake Loop: facilities include: 2600 square foot covered pavilion on a concrete pad, 4 large grills, 3 serving tables, 5 tall gathering tables, 2 stainless steel wash basin preparation area, and X # tables. Site also contains a large group fire pit area with benches, two toilet facilities, and adequate parking. This is an accessible area with a gravel path paralleling the roadway.
-Hooks, cables, screws, staples, or other kinds of fastener are prohibited in/on the pavilion.
-All decorations must be attached using the cables/hooks provided.
-Curtains, plastic, vinyl etc. walls must be attached to the existing cable system.
-No weight bearing devices are allowed hanging from the pavilion or in the trees e.g. hammocks, swing chairs. Etc.
-The small gathering area below the pavilion is available for use.
-Structures of any kind are prohibited in this area.
-Portable chairs are allowed in this area.
-Tables are provided; they must remain on the concrete pad.
-Use of the shoreline below the gathering area is prohibited, this is public land.
-No tents, tables, or ceremonies are allowed below the small gathering area.
-Motorized or electric vehicles are restricted to the gravel road/parking area.
-Camping is prohibited off or outside the gravel, hardened area.
Forest Loop: facilities include: a large gravel gathering area, group fire pit with benches, X # of tables, two toilets, and adequate parking. The gravel gathering area is accessible.
-You may use the overlook area at the top of the grassy knoll/hill for a ceremony.
-You must walk to the knoll. Motorized, mechanized, or electric vehicles are prohibited.
-Lights or other illumination is prohibited on the grassy knoll.
-Structures are prohibited in the grassy knoll at the top of the hill, but chairs are acceptable.
-Camping is prohibited off or outside the gravel, hardened area.
-A tent area is designated at the west end of the parking area.
There is no swimming, water skiing, jet skiing, or scuba diving in Lake Dillon.
Dogs must be always on a leash within the two sites and anywhere in this area.
Gate entering the group site must ALWAYS remain closed. Tell all your guests and vendors- this is very important!
Check out time is 11:00AM and check in time is 2:00pm
It is imperative that you are clear from the site at eleven on your check out day so the host can come prepare the site for the next event. Please don't be the group that makes the incoming group have to wait.
Off Highway Vehicle Use is NOT allowed at either of these group sites or in any campground along Lake Dillon including the shoreline.
All food, beverage and trash must be always attended by an adult, this requires someone within 100 feet of the attractants. Otherwise, all attractants shall be stored in a locked vehicle.
Campers must adhere to the food storage rules as well and store all attractants in a locked vehicle unless attending the food, garbage, etc.
All garbage shall be removed from the site and deposited in the appropriate receptacle by check out time.
Tent camping is allowed on flat, gravel areas shown inside the designated area. Tents are not permitted within the trees or outside the designated area.
RV's and campers must be parked on the hardened gravel surface.
RV's and campers CANNOT hook up to water via the spigots, these spigots are for self-fill jugs only.
Fires are restricted to the two metal fire rings or pedestal grills. no other open burning is allowed. Check with the Ranger District or American Land & Leisure prior to your event to investigate fire restrictions. In the event of fire restrictions, you may only be able to use propane cooking facilities.
Tables must stay in each site, do not move them out of their designated area. Each site has a specific number of tables. If you move tables aside for your event, you are responsible for moving them back by noon on the day of your check-out. Do not move them out of the pavilion or gravel area.
Quite hours are from 10pm to 6am, please respect other visitors to Lake Dillon and the neighboring campgrounds. Sounds travel in the mountains, don't be that rowdy party that disturbs others.
LAKE LOOP NEED TO KNOW:
The small earthen gathering area below the pavilion is available for use. This area is NOT considered disabled accessible. No event use is permitted below the highwater line down near the water or along the shore. No structures area allowed in this area (tents, awnings, arbors, archways, etc). Temporary chairs may be placed in this hardened area but must not encroach beyond the hardened area. All vehicles shall stay on the road system, no vehicles are allowed to back down the path to the concrete pavilion. All supplies must be hand carried to the pavilion. Only decoration may be hung from the pavilion rafters. No hammocks, swing chairs, no feature that is designed to bear weight.
FOREST LOOP NEED TO KNOW:
There is a non-disabled accessible path north of the parking area that leads to a grassy overlook. Temporary chairs may be placed in this area but must stay withing designated area. No camping is permitted at this grassy overlook, it is day use only from 6am to 10pm. No event use shall occur from 10pm to 6am. No structures are permitted in the grassy overlook (tents, awnings, arbors archways, etc). All vehicles shall stay on the road system, no vehicles are allowed to back down the path to the concrete pavilion. All supplies must be hand carried to the gathering area.
VENDOR AND EVENT REQUIREMENTS
Renters of these sites may hire vendors to support their use such as catering, flowers, music, ceremony efficient, photography, chair rental, etc. These vendors are not required to obtain a separate permit to provide these services. However, the party who rented Windy Point via Recreation.gov is responsible for all actions and/or damage taken by the vendors. The vendor must follow all site rules. All vendors shall adhere to check-in/out times for set up and especially retrieval of their equipment. In event the vendor does not retrieve their equipment, the renter is responsible to remove the equipment by noon on checkout day.
Campers must occupy the site the first night at a campsite. This prevents booking the site for Fri-Sun and showing up on Saturday.
Campers may leave the site for 24 hours and must occupy the site otherwise. This allows a camper to say go for an overnight backpack trip in the woods for one night and come back to their campsite the next day.
From I-70, take the Silverthorne exit 205. Travel east on Highway 6 approximately 4 miles to Swan Mountain Road. Proceed 2 miles to Swan Mountain Recreation Area. Take dirt road to campground.
<p>Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.</p>
