Part of Cape Hatteras National Seashore
Ocracoke Campground is only accessible by ferry or aircraft. Campsites are located on sandy soil, so campers are encouraged to bring extra-long tent stakes. Flush toilets, drinking water, cold showers, and grills are all provided for a more comfortable beach camping experience. The campground is conveniently located on the ocean side, separated from the beach by barrier dunes.
Nearby Ocracoke Village offers restaurants, gift shops, grocery stores, a gas station, and tackle shop.
Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
Quiet hours are 10:00 pm - 6:00 am - Generators are allowed throughout the campground and must be turned off during quiet hours.
Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
All equipment must fit on the site pad. If you have a large RV over 25 feet, you may have to park your second vehicle in the auxiliary parking area just outside the campground or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles may not be parked on grass.
At each campsite, there is a limit of six people, two cars (or one car and one trailer), and two tents.
Check in is 3:00 pm. Check out is 12:00 pm.
After heavy rain there may be areas of standing water due to the low terrain.
Biting insects are prevalent in summer months. Netting and repellent are recommended.
Campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites.
Must be 18 yrs of age to reserve a site.
