Overview

Bald Ridge Creek Campground is on Lake Sidney Lanier, popular for its aqua-blue waters and spectacular scenery. Each year, over 11 million visitors travel to Lake Sidney Lanier for fantastic fishing and boating on the beautiful reservoir in northern Georgia.

Facilities

The 82 campsites come with electric and water hookups (no sewer hookups). Additional conveniences in the well-maintained park include a dump station, laundry facilities, and restrooms/bathouses.

Natural Features

Lake Sidney Lanier is nestled in the foothills of the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains. The lake features 692 miles of shoreline and spans 38,000 surface water acres and 17,000 acres of lush terrain. The reservoir was created in 1956 with the completion of Buford Dam on the Chattahoochee River.

Recreation

Bald Ridge Creek Campground offers many outdoor recreation opportunities including fishing, swimming, and bike riding. On the lake there are opportunities for wake boarding, kayaking, boating and much more. There's also a swimming beach and boat ramp available for campers.

Nearby Attractions

By boat, there's plenty of coves and islands to explore on the lake. For land activities, head to the Sawnee Mountain Preserve for hiking, rock climbing and an interactive visitors center for kids. The city of Cumming is nearby and has shopping, restuarants, a fairground and much more.

Important Notices

  • Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

  • Check-in is 3:00 p.m., and check out is by 1:00 p.m.
  • Due to COVID-19, camper registration will take place through the gatehouse window. Upon arrival to the campground, please have your ID, license plate number, camping unit’s license plate number, site number, and discount pass (if applicable) ready to give the Park Attendant. Please approach the gatehouse slowly and bring your vehicle close to the window. At no point should you park and walk to the gatehouse window. Do not attempt to enter the gatehouse.

  • Gatehouse open 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Monday - Thursday. Gatehouse open 7 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday - Sunday.
  • Payments are not accepted at the gatehouse.

  • The campground does not accept mail or food deliveries for campers in the campground. Campers must coordinate to accept these items at a location outside the campground gate.  

  • Gates lock at 10:30pm and reopen at 7am.
  • "NO SHOWS" will be charged the full amount for their reservation.

  • DISCOUNT PASSES must be presented upon arrival and can only be used for ONE site where the cardholder is the REGISTERED camper. Fraudulent use of a discount pass may result in a mandatory appearance in court in accordance with Title 36 CFR 327.23 (d) RECREATION FEES.

    DISCOUNT PASSES must be applied at the time the reservartion is made.

  • Gatehouse Attendants have limited or no internet access and are unable to perform actions affecting a reservation.  

  • LENGTH OF STAY for campers is no longer than 14 days during any 30 consecutive day period for any USACE campground on Lake Lanier (Ex. Cannot stay at Bolding Mill Campground 14 days with another reservation immediately following at another USACE operated campground on Lake Lanier). Consecutive reservations under different names that exceed 14 days are not authorized and are subject to eviction and/or the issuance of a citation in accordance with Title 36 CFR 327.7 (b).

  • Commercial operations are prohibited in USACE operated campgrounds. Rental campers must be operated and set up by the registered camper.  

  • Day using is prohibited. Registered campers must occupy their site overnight.

Notifications and Alerts

  • The Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds in Forsyth County are being co-managed between Lake Sidney Lanier and Forsyth County Parks and Rec. The County has taken over day to day operations including reservations and operating dates. Please check their website here https://parks.forsythco.com/Facilities-Amenities/Campgrounds. Directions

From Atlanta, GA, take SR 400 N to Exit 16, turn right on Pilgrim Mill Rd., turn right on Sinclair Shoals Rd., turn left on Bald Ridge Rd. Follow signs into campground.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made via the online/phone reservation system or in person at the gatehouse. Cancellation calls to the gatehouse will not be honored.
