White Pine South Group Camp is one of two group campsites nestled along Avery Creek in the lush forests of the Appalachian Mountains. The facility provides tent camping year-round and can accommodate families, scout troops and other groups of up to 25 people.
Visitors have access to a number of recreation opportunities, including hiking, swimming, mountain biking, fishing and picnicking, in one of the most scenic areas in the state.
The site is equipped with picnic tables, vault toilets, lantern posts, campfire rings with grills and drinking water (***DRINKING WATER CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE*** Sorry for the inconvenience).
HELENE UPDATE: This location is closed until storm damage assessment and cleanup can be completed. Sites will reopen when it is safe for visitors. We have limited connectivity and are unable to answer calls or emails at this time, especially as we focus on storm recovery. We expect cleanup and repairs to last through October 14th, but they may take longer as we have been unable to access several sites as this notification is being published. Those with reservations will receive and email with more information, as it becomes available and communications are restored.
This is a walk-in, tent-only facility; parking lot is provided. No parking is permitted within the campsite itself and all personal equipment must be walked to the site.
Please bring garbage bags; visitors must remove their own trash. Campsites left in unsatisfactory states may be subject to restrictions of future access to Naventure facilities.
Campfires are only permitted in designated fire rings. DO NOT burn any construction refuse materials or material known to have metal objects in it such as nails, screws, etc. Pallets are not allowed!
Kiln dried firewood is available at Davidson River Campground for $10 (tax included) per bundle. Campfires must be fully extinguished before departure.

The campground lies in Pisgah National Forest at an elevation of 2,600 feet. The surrounding land boasts mile-high peaks, cascading waterfalls and slopes thickly forested with hardwoods. The group camping area is adjacent to Avery Creek and near the beautiful Davidson River.
The city of Asheville is about an hour away and offers numerous cultural attractions, art galleries, shops and restaurants. The small town of Brevard is also nearby and has various amenities and services.
The forest is known for its hiking and mountain biking trails, several of which are close to the campground. Avery Creek and the Davidson River offer great trout fishing.

From the Asheville airport, take Highway 280 south to Brevard. Turn right on U.S. Highway 276. Go 1.75 miles to Forest Road 477 and turn right. Go 0.75-mile to the parking area on the right side of the road. Walk across the bridge to the campground entrance road.
