Fawn Lakes Campground is located in Carson National Forest, one of a few campgrounds located along the scenic canyons of Red River. Visitors enjoy fishing and exploring nearby hiking trails.
The campground contains 18 family overnight sites, of which three are tent-only sites. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.
Campers should be prepared to bring their own water as it may initially not be available as campgrounds reopen. Other services may be limited. Visitors should call ahead or check the Forest webpage (https://www.fs.usda.gov/carson/) for open/closed statuses.
The Carson National Forest continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation and evaluate potential impacts and adjustments to reservations and our reservation policies through Recreation.gov. Reservation holders will be notified via email and/or cell phone text messages if there are any changes affecting their reservation. In the event of delayed openings of some, part or all of the campgrounds and cabins to ensure safe social distancing, you will receive a full refund for your reservation. Please remember to review current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and focus on recreating safely while protecting yourself, Forest Service employees and our volunteers
Food Closure in place at this location. All food, cooking supplies, and coolers must be placed in a hard sided trailer or vehicle. Please put food away, even if you are in camp. Current drought conditions are drawing bears to the area and food, food smells, and other attractants can draw them in. Please do your part in keeping yourself and others safe by keeping a clean site. All garbage should be removed from your site immediatly to the dumpsters.
SCRS & Recreation.gov policy states we will keep your reserved site until check-out time on the day after the scheduled arrival date. If you haven't occupied it at any time during this period, your reservation is null and void and we will give it to first come first serve folks. Your reservation will be a no show and no refund will be given.
