Buckhorn Campground is a relaxed, family-friendly campground conveniently located off Hwy 177 and situated next to Lake of the Arbuckles. Popular recreational activities include boating, swimming, fishing, bicycling, and birdwatching. 

Whether you prefer to jump in the cool, refreshing lake to escape the heat of summer or sit next to a cozy campfire in the cooler months, Buckhorn Campground is a great outdoor destination for visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

Buckhorn is one of only two campgrounds in Chickasaw National Recreation Area with electric hookups and water. It's an ideal location for families and friends looking for a mix of camping and boating. C and D Loops are open year-round while A and B Loops close during the winter months.

• Effective October 1, 2024 and continuing until further notice, COLD SPRINGS CAMPGROUND WILL BE OPEN YEAR ROUND.. ROCK CREEK CAMPGROUND WILL BECOME SEASONAL CLOSING ON OR ABOUT THE 1ST OF OCTOBER UNTIL ON OR ABOUT THE 1ST OF MAY. CENTRAL CAMPGROUND WILL CONTINUE TO CLOSE UNDER THE SAME DATES AS ROCK CREEK.

• Check out time is noon CST and check in time is 2:30 PM CST.

• ATTENTION: If you will be renting an RV or camper and having it delivered to Chickasaw National Recreation Area, it is your responsibility to make sure that the individual or business you are renting from has a valid permit to do business in the park. Renting from an individual or business that does not have a permit may leave you without accommodations as the RV or camper may be turned away upon delivery.

  Journeyz Camper Rental

• Cell coverage in the campground is spotty and sometimes unavailable. Please plan accordingly.

• Snakes may be around the brush or shoreline. Do not approach or attempt to catch wildlife.

• Frequent weather changes occur. Be prepared for severe heat, wind, rain, and possible tornadoes.

• In case of emergency, call 911.

• Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.

Natural Features

Set in the naturally diverse Chickasaw National Recreation Area, Buckhorn Campground is surrounded by unique flora, fauna, and geological formations.


The rolling hillside is part of the Crosstimbers (covered with partial prairie and partial forest) and offers abundant opportunities for wildlife viewing and recreational enjoyment.

Nearby Attractions

Hike or bike on the unpaved Rock Creek Multi-Use Trail or head up Rock Creek for a visit to the Chickasaw Cultural Center. There, you can learn all about the Native Americans of the region through exhibits, videos and interactive displays.

Recreation

Bring your boats or jet skis and cruise the lake, or pack your fishing rods to catch some of the state's finest bass, perch, and crappie.


This area is most popular for water sports, but hiking and biking are also great ways to explore the park and take in scenic views of Lake of the Arbuckles.

Driving Directions

From I35, take Exit #55 and drive towards the city of Davis, OK. Once in Davis, go east on Highway 7 to the Chickasaw National Recreation Area.
Watch for the Chickasaw National Recreation Area signs to direct you to your selected area:
Buckhorn Campgrounds, Pavilion, and Picnic Area - Drive approximately 8 miles east of Davis to the only 4 way STOP (Jct Hwy 7 and Hwy 177) in the city of Sulphur. Turn south (right) for approximately 5 miles on Hwy 177. Turn west (right) at Buckhorn Road and drive approximately 3 miles west. Follow the directional signs. This loop is the southeast corner of Arbuckle Lake.
