Rock Creek Group Campsite is currently closed for the season. Reservations cannot be made at this time.

Rock Creek Group Site is a family-friendly primitive campsite located at the entrance to Rock Creek Campground. While the group site is reservable, all other (standard) campsites at Rock Creek are available on a first-come first-serve basis (pay at the campground fee machine upon arrival). Rock Creek Campground is the closest campground to Veteran's Lake and is an ideal access point for fishing, hiking and walking, birding, and swimming. 

Facilities

• Rock Creek Group Site is a non-electric tent-only campsite. Rock Creek es un camping exclusivo para tiendas de campaña, sin electricidad.

• Two restroom buildings are located in the campground. Both restrooms have flush toilets and sinks. No showers are available at this campground. El camping cuenta con dos baños. Ambos cuentan con inodoros y lavabos con cisterna. No hay duchas disponibles.

Natural Features

Mature oak and hickory forests cover this historic part of Chickasaw National Recreation Area. This area of the park is abundant with cold spring-fed waterfalls and beautiful geologic formations.

Recreation

Swimming opportunities are plentiful with nearby streams and springs. A short drive to Veteran's Lake allows access to more swimming, picnic areas, a fishing dock, and a hiking trail that wraps around the lake.

Nearby Attractions

Visit the impressive 184-acre Chickasaw Cultural Center to learn about the history of the Chickasaw tribe. Enjoy historical exhibits, interactive displays, and traditional dances.

Important Notices

• Checkout time is noon CST and check in time is 2:30 PM. CST.

• Rock Creek Group Camp has spotty cell coverage. Please plan accordingly.

• If no Camp Host is available but you still require a Ranger for non-emergencies, call Murray County dispatch at 580-622-3918.

• Frequent weather changes occur. Be prepared for severe heat, wind, rain and possible tornadoes.

• Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.

• Effective October 1, 2024 and continuing until further notice, COLD SPRINGS CAMPGROUND WILL BE OPEN YEAR ROUND.. ROCK CREEK CAMPGROUND WILL BECOME SEASONAL CLOSING ON OR ABOUT THE 1ST OF OCTOBER UNTIL ON OR ABOUT THE 1ST OF MAY. CENTRAL CAMPGROUND WILL CONTINUE TO CLOSE UNDER THE SAME DATES AS ROCK CREEK.

Directions

<p>From I-35, take Exit 55 and drive toward Davis. Once in Davis, go east on Highway 7 to the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. For Rock Creek Campground, Veterans Lake, and Veteran's Lake Pavilion, drive approximately 7 miles (11.2 km) east of Davis to the traffic light on 12th street in the city of Sulphur. Turn right on 12th Street for approximately .6 miles (1 km). Turn right at the stop sign. Rock Creek Campground will be less than 1/2 a mile down the road to the right. Look for the large wooden sign with the campground name.</p>
