Overview
Two of America's clearest spring-fed rivers combine to create the Ozark National Scenic Riverways in the rolling, forested landscape of Akers.
Visitors to the campground enjoy various water activities, as well as hiking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing.
Facilities
This group campground is open year round with limited facilities in the off season.Natural Features
Known for its caves, springs, sinkholes and losing streams, the Ozark National Scenic Riverways have over 300 identified caves within its boundaries. The caves range in size from a rock overhang to almost seven miles of identified passages. Eight caves, including an open sinkhole, have been designated as outstanding natural features.The Ozark forest is mostly White oak and Shortleaf pine, Missouri's only native pine species. Along the rivers, Sycamores, Cottonwoods, River birch and maples are common.
Redbud and dogwood are also abundant, putting on a spectacular show during most spring months.
Recreation
The crystal-clear Current River flows past the campground, offering excellent canoeing, tubing, swimming and fishing. Over 130 miles of waterways exist within the park. Canoe and kayak rentals and outfitters can be found nearby.Several miles of hiking and horseback riding trails crisscross the region, include the Alley Overlook Trail, Chubb Hollow Trail, Ozark Trail, Cave Spring Trail and Big Springs Trail.
Nearby Attractions
Scenic Round Spring Cave is nearby, with ranger-guided tours offered daily during summer months. Historic and picturesque Alley Mill and Alley Spring are nearby. The mill is open daily in the summer and ranger-offered tours are available upon request.

If you arrive and another party is occupying your reserved campsite, please call Arrowhead Dispatch at 1-844-460-3604 for a Law Enforcement officer to be dispersed to your location for removal of the unauthorized party.
No hook-ups. RV's are not permitted. Tent camping only.
Vault toilet on site. Modern restrooms are open April 15 to Oct. 1 at Akers Ranger Station, a short distance from group campsites.
- No glass-bottled beverages allowed in tubes or non-motorized vehicles

Water systems shut off Oct. 15-April 14. (Water off means most bathrooms and faucets in campgrounds will be closed and facilities winterized. The exception are the heated shower houses/flush restrooms at Round Spring, Big Spring and Alley Spring campgrounds and Akers Ranger Station.

Directions
<p>Akers Campground is 20 miles (32 km) south of Salem, Missouri. From Salem, take Highway 19 south 4 miles (6.4 km). Turn right on Highway KK for 16 miles (26 km) to Akers Group Campground. The campground is 1/2 mile (.8 km) north of Akers Ferry (junction of Highways K and KK).</p>
