This beautiful and quiet campground lies on the South Fork of the McKenzie River and was originally constructed in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It is located well away from the main road and some of the sites spread around an open meadow.
This developed facility has vault toilets, fire rings, picnic tables, garbage collection, and hand-pumped drinking water.
The McKenzie River Ranger District has asked us to inform you of some road work taking place on Aufderheide road (NF road 1900) during the months of April – June. This work will create a full closure of the road where access in either direction will not be possible. We’re advising guests to an alternate route to their destination, the easiest being from the south on road 19 out of Westfir. That said, we’re also asking guests to consider what this closure might mean for safety. With the shortest access route closed during the specified months, that means a drastically increased response time by emergency personnel should an accident occur. If an increased travel time to your destination and increased risk to safety are concerns, we’ll honor a full refund of your reservation up until 7 days before your reservation date. Last minute cancellations within 7 days of the reservation date will be treated normally.
