Overview
Grandview Shelter #4 is a medium size shelter located under the canopy of the forest. It can accommodate up to 64 people inside and 26 people outside the shelter for a total of about 90 people.Facilities
Shelter #4 offers one electrical outlet, and two charcoal grills. Playground equipment, horse shoe pit, drinking fountain with side spigot, and a handicapped accessible restroom are nearby. This shelter is handicapped accessible but the asphalt walkway ends prior to the shelter (10 - 15'). Additional chairs, tables, and canopy tents are allowed.Natural Features
Grandview became part of New River Gorge National River in 1990, after more than 50 years as one of West Virginia's most popular day use state parks. The area offers spectacular views of the New River and beautiful displays of rhododendron. At the Main Overlook, 1,400 feet above the river, you see an active railway and the town of Quinnimont, where the first coal was shipped out of the gorge in 1873.Recreation
The Grandview area of New River Gorge National River features five hiking trails, overlooks, a seasonal visitor center, ranger-led activities, summer outdoor dramas (Theatre West Virginia), playgrounds, volleyball court, baseball field, and basketball court.Nearby Attractions
The city of Beckley is approximately 12 miles from Grandview. It offers a wide variety of shopping, restaurants, and hotels. Popular attractions include a children's museum, and Exhibition Coal Mine.Important Notices
- Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all areas at Grandview.
Decorations are allowed, provided they do not damage the structure (i.e. no staples or nails, tie on only) and are cleaned up on departure including all tape remnants.
Glitter or confetti in any form (table decorations, cannons, poppers, etc.) and silly string are prohibited.
The use of helium-filled or water-filled balloons is not permitted on site.
You may rearrange picnic tables at the shelter for your event. You are responsible for returning the picnic tables to the original location at the conclusion of the event.
All Grandview shelters must be left in substantially the same condition as it was prior to reservation with all refuse properly disposed of at the conclusion of event. The use of sidewalk chalk, markers, crayons, paint markers, orany other marking devices on concrete, wooden structures, picnic tables, or asphalt areas is prohibited.
Bouncy houses, drones, fireworks, dunk tanks, and wading pools are not allowed.
- Potable water is available at restrooms and nearby drinking fountains.
- Commercial activity (i.e. sales) is prohibited.
- Use of the pavilion for weddings and wedding receptions requires a Special Use Permit. Call 304-465-6517 for permit information.
- Keep your confirmation notice with you in the event of a conflict with a non-reservation party.
- Pets must be kept on a leash at all times.
Cutting, destroying, digging, removing or possessing any tree, shrub, or other plant is prohibited. Digging holes, moving rocks, or constructing viewing platforms is prohibited. In no instance will anything be stapled or nailed to trees, bushes, or structures. Any signs or other notices to participants will be a stand-alone, temporary measure only.

Directions
To reach Grandview from Beckley follow I-64 East five miles to Exit 129 B. From Lewisburg follow I-64 West forty miles to Exit 129. From either exit, turn right and follow Route 9 North six miles to Grandview.
