Mogollon Campground, although not directly in the Woods Canyon Recreation area, sits just outside and is only two miles from the lake. For those who like spectacular views, this campground is one of the closest to the Mogollon Rim.
Mogollon Campground has 26 sites (of which sites 14 through 26 are available for advanced reservation). All sites are pull-outs and approximately 40 feet. Sites can accommodate tents, pop-up campers, trailers, and motorhomes. There are two loops which have 13 sites per loop. Each campsite offers a campfire ring, grill and picnic table. Additional amenities include accessible vault toilets, drinking water and trash service. A camp host is available at the site.
This location is operated under permit by Thousand Trails Management Services, Inc. and is currently open to welcome guests to individual family campsites only (8 guests or less per site) and group sites up to 50 people. Our campgrounds are opening with strict adherence to the following mandates:

Strict adherence to Physical Distancing between campsites will be enforced. Please respect the space of other campers and stay well away from other campsites to which you are not related or associated.
ONLY registered guests will be permitted in campgrounds. NO visitors allowed. Alert the host upon check-in if you expect a second vehicle in your site.
After-hours reservations proceed to your assigned site. Walk-ins, follow posted instructions concerning availability. You may not enter the campground to look for sites. You must completely fill out the provided fee envelope and make the payment before proceeding into the campground.

If you use a 3rd party vendor to deliver your camping equipment/rig, they must have a valid Forest Service permit issued by the Black Mesa Ranger District to enter the campground. If they do not have that permit, they will be denied entry to your site.
If you are renting equipment and are bringing it yourself, no special permit is required.

Effective Friday July 16, 2021 all fire restrictions are lifted on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. Visitors can once again have a well attended, modest sized fire in the metal fire rings provided in this campground. Smoking outdoors in a cleared area is allowed. The use of charcoal and smokers is also allowed.
Campers are expected to drown any unattended campfire out cold.
The use of fireworks, and shooting any type of weapon inside the campgrounds remains prohibited.
Mogollon Campground is surrounded by ponderosa pines. The road to Mogollon is a sandy road off of Road 300. The campground itself is also sandy and gravel.
Some groceries are available at the Marina Store at Woods Canyon Lake which is approximately three miles from the campground. The store also offers boat and kayak rentals. Woods Canyon Lake is a great lake for fishing.
Fishing and boating are available at Woods Canyon Lake which is approximately three miles from the campground on Road 105.
