Due to significant staffing changes, shortages, and federal hiring freezes, reservation placards are not being posted at Red Mountain Campground. Campsites 1-12 are only reservable online or by calling 877-444-6777. Campsites 1-12 are not currently first-come first-served. Please do not occupy campsites 1-12 without valid proof of a reservation through Recreation.gov. If you are occupying campsites 1-12 without valid proof of a reservation through Recreation.gov, an arriving camper with a valid reservation has the right to ask you to vacate the site they paid for. Sites 13-18 are first-come first-served and can be paid for upon arrival if not occupied. Please clip proof of reservation or perforated fee envelope tab to campsite post upon arrival. Campsite(s) must be occupied and cannot be held for future use, unless by valid reservation through Recreation.gov. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
FOR CAMPERS WITH EXISTING OR FUTURE RESERVATIONS: Due to significant staffing changes, shortages, and federal hiring freezes, reservation placards are not being posted at BLM campgrounds on the lower Madison River (Red Mountain, Trapper Springs). Sites reservable through Recreation.gov are not first-come first-served and should not be occupied during your reservation period. Please ensure you arrive with printed proof of your Recreation.gov reservation and clip it to your campground post for the duration of your stay. If the site you reserved is occupied upon your arrival, please politely explain you have a reservation and ask for the site to be cleared by the occupants. Reservation-only campsites are marked to clearly state that a Recreation.gov reservation is required to occupy the site. If you encounter occupancy issues during your stay, please contact the Dillon Field Office at 406-683-8000. Staff are not able to make, amend, or cancel your reservation for you.
