The Munising and Rapid River/Manistique Ranger Districts of the Hiawatha National Forest offer a variety of camping experiences. Many are located on inland lakes in a rustic forest environment with no drinking water. The rustic environment offers a wonderfully serene and peaceful setting for your next camping experience.
There is NO drinking water available at these campsites.
There are primitive toilets located at sites 1 and 2.

There are two campsites located on the 63-acre Jackpine Lake.
Visitors will be able to enjoy swimming, berry picking, and fishing at these campsites. Licenses are required for fishing in Michigan waters.
Jackpine Lake is a great fishery for smallmouth bass and bluegills. There are some large yellow perch and bullheads present as well. There is an unimproved boat access located on the south side of the lake near site 1. This access is suitable for small, lightweight craft only. The access road leading to this boat access is firm sand with some gravel. This boat access is intended for day - use only. Parking space is limited.
Swimming conditions are decent at both sites. Sandy and Shallow.
There are a number of horse, bike, and hiking trails within minutes of several of the sites. In over a mile from these campsites, visitors can expect to find: bait shops, general and grocery stores, gas, a pay phone, trailheads, a fishing pier, biking, and kayak/canoe rentals.
Gasoline, groceries, fishing and camping supplies, ice and deli are available in the Thunder Lake area on CR 437, approximately seven miles to the southeast.
ROAD CHANGE: Access road to Jackpine Lake Campsite Site 2 has changed. It was FR8137 off of 2217. The new access road is just South of that intersection still on 2217. You will now need to take FR2715. Turn left onto FR2841. Then turn right onto FR2841A, the site will be at the end of this road.
Pack-In, Pack-out policy
There is a 14-day stay limit.
No drinking water provided.
Campsite must be occupied the first night.
Campsite cannot be left unattended for more than 24 hours.
You are welcome to collect firewood from the area surrounding your campsite. Just remember that any firewood that you collect must be DEAD AND DOWN

<p><strong>From Cooks (about 12 miles west of Manistique or 24 miles east of Rapid River on US-2):</strong> drive north 4.4 miles on County Road 442 to CR 437.</p> <ul> <li>Turn left (north) on CR 437 and drive 8.7 miles to FR 2217. </li> <li>Turn left (northwest) on FR 2217 and drive 4.3 miles to FR 2715. </li> <li><strong>To get to site #1:</strong> Turn right (east) on to FR 2715 and drive about 0.6 mile to campsite #1. </li> <li><strong>To get to site #2:</strong> Continue north on FR 2217 an additional 0.5 mile to FR 8137. Turn right (north) and drive about 1 mile to campsite #2.</li> </ul>
