Grass Shack Campsite #3 is located within Grass Shack Campground. This is a great campground that offers shade from large Oaks and Junipers.
This site has a bear box for food storage. it is the most secluded of the three sites and is the closest to the pools of water that typically do not dry out during dry periods.
This is the lowest elevation of the two campgrounds on the Arizona National Scenic Trail in Saguaro National Park. Access is from Camino Loma Alta, and this ten mile (16 km) hike climbs 2,200 feet (670 m) to a campground often not affected by winter storms. Views are exceptional to the south as you climb through and above the saguaros.
One of the larger creeks-Chimenea Creek runs through and by the campground, providing water most of the year. Fires are not allowed here being in a fragile riparian ecosystem surrounded by a thick grassland.
You must camp in your assigned campsite.
This site can be hard to find as it is the furthest from the trail. Walk through site #2 and follow the faint trail. Cross the stream bed that runs seasonally. Continue for 30 feet until you arrive at the site
