Need to Know

• No cell phone service.

• No potable water (bring a water filter).

• No trash service. Practice Leave No Trace principles and carry out everything you carry in, including all trash and food.

• Obtain firewood locally within 10 miles of your campsite.

• Stair Falls campsite may be reached by a 2-mile hike from Haskell Gate or by paddling down the East Branch Penobscot River.

• Pets must be on a leash of six feet or less at all times.

• Campfire permits from the Maine Forest Service are required. Call 207-435-7963 prior to your trip to obtain a free permit.

• An established portage trail goes through this campsite.
