Located along the Pink Trail on Buzzards Roost Lake, Buzzards Roost Camping Platform is approximately 7.65 miles from the Suwannee Canal Recreation Area. Situated just off the lake’s northwest shore, the platform offers expansive, open-water views and an immersive wilderness experience. This broad, open lake is ideal for wildlife viewing and fishing, and it provides a stunning backdrop for vibrant sunrises, glowing sunsets, and unforgettable night skies.
Buzzards Roost is a dual-use shelter open to permitted overnight campers and day-use paddlers and motor boaters. Day visitors are welcome to stop at the platform, provided they return to the Suwannee Canal Recreation Area by the posted off-water time. To help ensure an enjoyable experience for all visitors, overnight campers should wait until 1.5 hours before the posted off-water time to set up full camp. Please be courteous and allow space for day users to enjoy the platform during visiting hours.
NO FIRES ALLOWED. Please refer to Camping page on the refuge's website for additional information and Know Before You Go tips. Keep trails and platforms free of litter; you must pack out ALL garbage generated from your trip.
Permit holders take full responsibility of knowing the distance between overnight stops.
