Need to Know
You must be on the water by 10:00 AM. Individuals who arrive later than this time may be denied permission to begin their trip. No refunds will be issued for late arrivals.
The platform, located on the red trail, is at the north end of Big Water Lake tucked into the edge of a beautiful stand of cypress trees. The area provides great fishing opportunities (seasonally) as well as night sky and sunrise/sunset viewing.
NO FIRES OR CHARCOAL GRILLS. Please refer to the refuge brochure for additional trip planning information and Know Before You Go tips. Keep trails and platforms free of litter; you must pack out ALL garbage generated from your trip.
Permit holders take full responsibility of knowing the distance between overnight stops.
