Need to Know
- PROXIMITY: Two miles west of Canadian border, on North side of Sawtooth Mt
Range.
Train transportation must be arranged in advance. Call (800)343-7373.
Area not snow free until early June.
Surrounded by mountains. Spruce, Sub-alpine fir, moose, brown and black
bear. Trail to cabin follows Skagway River drainage.
Easy access to glacial moraine, good views of glacier.
- Alaska cabin reservations can only be changed once. If you need to modify your reservation a second time,it must be cancelled and then re-booked by calling 1-877-444-6777.*Effective November 17, 2003 to assure fairness for everyone.*
Open fires must be in firering, collect dead/down wood only.
Cabin is primitive, no amenities except oil stove and outhouse.
Bring #1 stove oil for the oil stove.
Stream water must be boiled or treated before drinking.
Directions to Campground:
15 miles north of Skagway on White Pass Railroad, then 1 1/2 mile
east by trail to cabin. - Check train schedule to coincide with cabin reservation as train may not operate daily.
