The Vogel Lake Cabin is a large, one story rustic log cabin built in the early 1940's as a hunting and fishing cabin. Located on the south end of Vogel Lake, this cabin offers seclusion, wildlife viewing, and good fishing. The boat provided at the cabin gives anglers excellent opportunities to catch rainbow trout. Wildlife includes moose, black and brown bears, and wolves. Hunting is allowed for these species in designated seasons. In the winter there is snowshoeing, cross-county skiing, and snowmachining. The cabin contains two bunk beds, a table with benches, countertop for food preparation, wood stove, splitting maul, crosscut saw, broom, shovel, water bucket, fire extinguisher, rowboat with oars and personal flotation devices, established campfire ring, picnic table, and an outhouse. Because this cabin is located in designated wilderness, chainsaw use for firewood collection from dead and down trees is prohibited. Primary access to the cabin is by float plane, ski plane, and snowmachine. Refer to USGS map Kenai D-2. GPS coordinates: Latitude: 60.988617, Longitude: -150.434498.
