National Park Service, Virginia.
Established to honor the 200th birthday of the first president of the United States, the Birthplace represents more than a century of local, state, and national efforts to memorialize Washington. The Washingtons shaped an American identity through their encounters and relationships with Native Americans, enslaved Africans, and other Europeans, all struggling to find their place in this world.
George Washington Birthplace is located off two miles from Virginia state route 3 on Virginia state route 204. The park is located 38 miles east of Fredericksburg and 10 miles from Colonial Beach.
