Shoshone Wilderness Study Area

Overview

Shoshone Wilderness Study Area is managed by Bureau of Land Management and is located near Shoshone, Idaho. In Idaho, BLM manages nearly 7,000 acres of public lands in the Shoshone Wilderness Study Area. The terrain here is surrounded by barren lava flows with elevations ranging from 3781 feet on the west boundary to 3970 feet on the east boundary. The rugged volcanic features and desert environment of this area provide accessible opportunities for primitive day hiking.
