Buckhorn Campground is a relaxed, family-friendly campground conveniently located 8 miles off Hwy 177. Popular recreational activities include boating, swimming, fishing, bicycling, and birding. Buckhorn C and D Loops have a mixture of electric and non-electric campsites. Water hookups are available at the electric sites. There are no sewer hookups, but a dump station is conveniently located less than a mile from the campgrounds. Restrooms have flush toilets, sinks, and showers. There are no firewood vendors in the park. Visitors can gather dead and downed wood in the campgrounds or drive to the nearby town of Sulphur to purchase firewood.Set in the rolling Arbuckle Mountains, Buckhorn Campground is surrounded by unique flora, fauna, and geological formations. This area of Oklahoma is part of the Crosstimbers, where the western plains meet the eastern forests, and offers abundant opportunities for wildlife viewing and recreational enjoyment.Hike or bike on the unpaved Rock Creek Multi-Use Trail or head up Rock Creek for a visit to the Chickasaw Cultural Center. There, you can learn all about the Native Americans of the region through exhibits, videos and interactive displays. Bring your boats and jet skis to enjoy the lake or pack your fishing rods to catch some of the state's finest bass, catfish, and crappie. This area is most popular for water sports but hiking trails and bicycling are also great ways to explore the park and take in scenic views of Lake of the Arbuckles.
