The Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club, built in 1925 and a member of Historic Hotels of America® since 1992 was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Historic Hotels of America is the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation® for recognizing and celebrating the finest historic hotels across America.

In 1923, Pennsylvania businessman Aymer Vinoy Laughner commissioned architect Henry L. Taylor to design a luxury hotel overlooking Tampa Bay. Two years later, the $3.5 million, Mediterranean Revival Vinoy Park Hotel with 375 luxurious guestrooms was open for business. The Vinoy reopened as a hotel in 1945 and then again in the early 1990s. The salmon-colored hotel then underwent a $93 million restoration and expansion that added a guest tower and complete recreational facilities, including an 18-hole golf course designed by Ron Garl.
