The all-American Grand Hotel has been an iconic summer resort since it opened in 1887. With a 660-foot-long veranda, the world's longest, the Victorian-style hotel offers amenities on an equally impressive scale. Seven suites are named for former first ladies Jackie Kennedy, Lady Bird Johnson, Betty Ford, Rosalynn Carter, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, and Laura Bush, all of whom were consulted in the designs. In 2003, Grand Hotel was named as one of America's Dozen Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. In 2017, Historic Hotels of America honored Grand Hotel's 130th Anniversary as a steward of history and historical preservation.
