Highway of Legends is managed by Department of Transportation. This byway connects several southern Colorado towns and areas steeped in frontier legend and folklore.

Getting There

Navigating the Byway:
Starting in Trinidad, follow CO-12 west and north up to La Veta. Just north of La Veta, CO-12 junctions with US 160. Follow US 160 to Walsenburg. The Highway of Legends curves westward from either of its entry points at Walsenburg and Trinidad. The byway passes through the Cuchara and Purgatoire river valleys, into the San Isabel National Forest, and over 9,994-foot Chuchara Pass.
