Overview

Kings Canyon Scenic Byway is managed by Department of Transportation. The Kings Canyon Scenic Byway is internationally significant for its unique scenic and geologic displays. Highway 180 is a showcase of nature's wonderland. The largest species of trees on earth, the giant sequoia, and one of the deepest canyons in America, the Kings Canyon, are two outstanding tributes to the natural beauty found here. You will experience dramatic changes in vegetation, wildlife, and geology as you climb the 4,000 feet through the eastern foothills of the Sierra Nevada.

Getting There

Navigating the Byway:
The byway starts on Highway 180 near Dunlap at the western border of the Sequoia National Forest, just east of the Hume Lake Ranger District Office. It continues east through Giant Sequoia National Monument, and then continues east through neighboring Kings Canyon National Park. The byway ends as a turnaround in Cedar Grove.
