Lamoille Canyon Road

Overview

Lamoille Canyon Road is managed by Department of Transportation. The Ruby Mountains are Nevada's wettest, and therefore most verdant mountain range. Follow this winding road around the base of 11,249-foot Ruby Dome, up glacially-formed Lamoille Canyon.

Getting There

Navigating the Byway:

Follow Nevada Highway 227 south-east from Elko toward Lamoille. Before Lamoille, turn right onto the Lamoille Canyon Road. This is the byway, which proceeds southeast into the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and ends at the aptly named Road's End Picnic Area near the Ruby Mountain Scenic Area.
