Overview
Permits are required for day-use and (overnight-Use sold separate, and in advance) in this area. The day-use fee is $6.00 per person and $6.00 per dog. *add dogs under number of Children. ***Select one pass per group, (Group sizes are limited to ten people sharing any affiliation), enter your details, number of people, dogs, and payment information.No permit exemptions, passes, or discounts apply. This includes all passes in the America the Beautiful Interagency Pass Series (such as Annual, Senior, Access, and Volunteer passes).
This permit does not cover access to any other permit area including overnight use for the Paria Canyon, Coyote Buttes North (The Wave), or Coyote Buttes South. You must display your day-use permit (printed out or PASS ID written onto trailhead fee envelope) placed on the dashboard of your vehicle, making sure the PASS ID is visible. Sign in and out at trailhead register.

From Kanab, UT drive 42 miles east on Highway 89
From Page, AZ drive 31 miles west on Highway 89
Between mile marker 20 and 21 on Highway 89, turn south onto the Paria Contact Station Road
and drive about 2 miles to the trailhead.
The road that accesses the permit area is unpaved and minimally maintained. Most of the time, it is possible to reach the trailhead in a two-wheel-drive, high-clearance vehicle. However, four-wheel-drive, high-clearance vehicles may be required when the road is wet. During the rainy season and the winter months, the road may become impassable for all vehicles, even those with four-wheel-drive.

Day-use permits are required: Pay here in advance and print out your permit to display on your vehicle dashboard. Permits are also available at the trailhead. Permits are non-transferrable, non-refundable, not replaceable if lost or stolen, and are void if altered or reproduced.
These permits are only valid in White House / Paria Canyon Day-Use Area for the group size and date specified. They are not valid for other permit areas such as Paria Canyon Overnight, Coyote Buttes North (The Wave), or Coyote Buttes South. These other permits must be purchased in advance and are in limited supply.
Commercial groups: A Special Recreation Permit is required, in addition to the recreation permit, for all commercial uses such as outfitters or organized group guided trips where there is a fee charged.
Group size is limited to 10 people sharing any affiliation (friends, family, club, tour, etc.). Groups of more than 10 people are not allowed to enter the permit area in the same day.
Violators of group size of 10 may be cited if limit is exceeded.
Safety: To help protect yourself and the wilderness experience, please take the following precautions:
Check weather forecasts, river flow, and route conditions prior to your hike.
Obtain accurate information about your route.
Tell a responsible person your itinerary and whom to contact if you are overdue.
If you carry an emergency beacon or SPOT, know how and when to use it. False alarms put rescuers at risk and can cause lasting damage to the canyons.
