Along the winding mountain roads of North Carolina is a beautiful stretch of scenic byway that leads through hardwood forests, river gorges, and rural countryside.

Driving the Byway

Starting in the town of Highlands, travel northwest along SR 1442, passing through the cities of Franklin and Aquone.
The byway makes a jog to the northeast after Aquone, becoming US 19/74. The byway ends in the city of Lauada.
