East Canyon State Park

Utah, Utah.

Tucked away in the mountains of northeastern Utah on the Wasatch Back, East Canyon Reservoir is a popular destination for boating, fishing, and camping that is only 45 minutes from Salt Lake. The reservoir is a beautiful, local gem that locals love to share with visitors. At 5,700 feet, East Canyon State Park sits about 1,500 feet higher than Salt Lake, making it a cool mountain escape in the warmer months.

The reservoir sits on 685 acres and has great fishing and amenities, including some handicap accessible sites. Visitors can reserve campsites, both developed and primitive, and yurts, cabins or group sites at the state park as well condos at the nearby East Canyon Resort. Boat and equipment rentals are available at Club Rec. The park also holds a bit of history. You can explore the nearby Mormon Pioneer Trail, the route taken by Mormons traveling more than 1,300 miles from Illinois to Utah. Make a reservation on the Utah State Parks reservation site
