All visitors at Valles Caldera National Preserve are required to pay an entrance fee. Please be prepared to show your hard copy or digital pass on your mobile device.
Print out or download the pass on your mobile device in advance of your visit. Connectivity may by limited, and the pass must be available to show at all times when visiting VCNP.
Passholders must print a copy of this pass and display it on the vehicle's dashboard with the QR code visible. Those traveling in open-topped vehicles or on motorcycles should carry the pass with them and be prepared to present it to NPS staff upon request.
Backcountry Vehicle Passes are required for all visitors wishing to travel on the backcountry vehicle route. Passes are limited to the summer season, which generally runs May 15 to November 15 (weather-permitting).
Conditions in Valles Caldera National Preserve can change quickly, especially during spring and fall. Temporary road closures and delays are always possible. Vehicles with all wheel or 4-wheel drive, and chains are recommended November through March.
Entrance passes are non-transferable, non-refundable, will not be replaced if lost or stolen, and will be void if altered or reproduced.
