Fort Moultrie Site Pass

Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park

Only the Fort Moultrie unit of Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park requires a pass. Fort Moultrie also accepts payment in person during Operating Hours and honors valid Interagency Passes (Annual, Senior, Access, Military, etc.). Passes are valid for entrance fees at the Fort Moultrie unit of the park. Entrance passes are NOT required at the Fort Sumter unit of the park. However, tickets are required for ferry transportation to Fort Sumter and can be purchased in advance from Fort Sumter Tours.  

On January 1, 2026, changes to National Park Entrance Fees and Passes for non-residents took effect. 

Each pass is issued to one person (the pass holder) who must be present and show valid photo identification each time the pass is used. U.S. citizen or resident identification includes a U.S. driver's license, U.S. passport, or U.S. permanent resident card. 

All visitors 16 years of age and older are required to pay an entrance fee at the Fort Moultrie Site. 

Print out or download the pass on your mobile device in advance of your visit. Check-in at the information desk inside the Fort Moultrie Visitor Center upon arrival. Be prepared to present your physical or digital pass and a Photo ID. The Fort Moultrie Visitor Center is located at 1214 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island SC, 29482. Parking is available behind the Visitor Center.

Passes are non-transferrable, non-refundable, not replaceable if lost or stolen, and are void if altered or reproduced.

The Fort Moultrie unit of the park is open daily, except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Hours of operation vary by building and season. Visit the park's Operating Hours and Seasons page for information.

Except for the Fort Moultrie Visitor Center, the site is primarily outdoors. Sunscreen, insect repellent, drinking water, sunglasses and a hat are recommended.
