Walnut Canyon National Monument

This site just east of Flagstaff, Arizona showcases remarkable rocks and ancient cliff dwellings. Come gaze across curved canyon walls. Among the remarkable geological formations of the canyon itself, the former homes of ancient inhabitants are easily evident. Along the trails you can imagine life within Walnut Canyon, while visiting actual pueblos and walking in the steps of those who came before. The one-mile round-trip Island Trail provides access to 25 cliff dwellings.

Flagstaff Area National Monuments Annual Pass: Admits the passholder and passengers of one private, non-commercial vehicle, or the passholder and passenger of one motorcycle to Walnut Canyon National Monument, Sunset Crater National Monument, and Wupatki National Monument for 12 months.

Private Vehicle Pass: Admits the passholder and passengers of one private, non-commercial vehicle to Walnut Canyon National Monument for 7 days.

Motorcycle Pass: Admits the passholder and passenger of one motorcycle to Walnut Canyon National Monument for 7 days.

Pedestrian/Cyclist Pass: Admits one individual cyclist, hiker, or pedestrian entering Walnut Canyon National Monument without a private vehicle.

The Private Vehicle and Motorcycle fee covers unlimited entry for one vehicle and passengers and the Pedestrian/ Cyclist fee covers unlimited entry for one cyclist, hiker, or pedestrian without a private vehicle for 7 consecutive days at Walnut Canyon National Monument, beginning on the start date you select. 

The Flagstaff Area National Monument Annual Pass is valid for 12 months at Walnut Canyon National Monument, Sunset Crater National Monument, and Wupatki National Monument.

All Interagency America the Beautiful Passes are accepted for entry. You do not need to purchase an additional entrance pass if you already possess an Interagency Pass. Each pass covers the occupants of a single, non-commercial vehicle. Please be prepared to show your pass with photo ID.

Are you visiting multiple parks? Upon arrival at Walnut Canyon National Monument you may purchase Interagency Annual and Lifetime passes that allow entry at multiple national parks and federal lands. Walnut Canyon National Monument requires all visitors to pay an entrance fee except children under 16 years of age. 

Walnut Canyon National Monument has limited cell coverage. Please download or print your pass ahead of time and be prepared to show your site pass upon arrival at Walnut Canyon National Monument.

Entrance passes are non-transferrable, non-refundable, will not be replaced if lost or stolen and will be void if altered or reproduced.
