Pecos National Historical Park Fishing Reservations
Beat 2: The middle stretch of the Pecos River available for fishing in the park, running for approximately one mile. This is the second-most accessible beat, sharing a parking area with Beat 1. Anglers must walk approximately 100 yards down a sloped gravel road to the upstream boundary for this beat.
In Beat 2, the river curves against rock walls, forming deep pools interspersed with riffles and boulder-studded runs. Note that there is thick vegetation along much of the streambank for this mile of river, so shore access is limited in many sections.

Check-In. Anglers must check in at the visitor center before heading to the river. Check-in must take place during visitor center hours (opens at 8:30am); earlier check-in is not available. During check-in, park staff will confirm the reservation, review fishing licenses, and provide directions and parking placards.
Check-Out. Anglers are also expected to check out at the visitor center at the end of their fishing day, before the visitor center closes at 4pm. Anglers should be off the water by 3pm, and checked-out at the visitor center no later than 4pm.
When making a reservation, all people in your group, whether fishing or not, must be accounted for in the reservation. There is a maximum of 4 people per beat, per day.
The use or possession of all live or dead organic baits is prohibited at Pecos NHP. Such baits include but are not limited to fish or fish parts, minnows, salamanders (“water dogs”), salmon eggs, worms, or foodstuffs such as bread and corn. Scented attractants (liquid and solid baits) are not allowed. For more information about fishing regulations at the park, visit Fishing - Pecos National Historical Park (U.S. National Park Service).
