Need to Know
- Early Season Access
McKenzie Highway/OR 242 traditionally opens the third Monday in June weather permitting. Access to this trailhead by motor vehicle will not be possible until that time. Pedestrian/bicycle travel is allowed on the road before the gates open. Go to Tripcheck.com for the latest information.
- Day Use Permit Rules
Day use permits are required at this trailhead from June 15th through October 15th.

Day use permits are only valid for entry on the date and trailhead listed on the permit.

Campfires are not allowed above 5,700’ elevation and at additional lower elevation destinations.
