Travel by vehicle to trailhead may not be possible until mid to late June due to late season snowpack. Forest Service Road 16 is rough in spots but accessible by most vehicles after the snow melts.
Day use permits are required at this trailhead from June 15th through October 15th.
Day use permits are only valid for entry on the date and trailhead listed on the permit.
Day use permits are not transferable. The trip leader must be present with the group at all times.
Some trails often remain snow covered into late June.
Campfires are not allowed above 5,700’ elevation and at additional lower elevation destinations.
Hikers and equestrians should obtain a detailed map of the area before planning a trip, and inquire in advance about trail conditions, particularly early in the season.
Visitors must practice Leave No Trace skills, including properly disposing of human and pet waste and carrying out all trash. Visit LNT.org for more information.
