Steamtown National Historic Site Tickets

Steamtown National Historic Site

Steamtown's seasonal train rides offer a unique National Park experience. Tickets for train rides are available for advance purchase online, EXCEPT those for the Scranton Limited and/or Caboose Experience, which MUST be purchased on-site at Steamtown, credit card only. For specific event details, visit our Event Calendar and navigate to the appropriate date.

Located in the center of downtown Scranton, in northeastern Pennsylvania, Steamtown National Historic Site (NHS) is an industrial heritage site dedicated to interpreting the history of steam railroading in America. The park is located within the center of the once bustling Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad Yard. The Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad was a major player in the transportation of the Anthracite coal that once fueled America’s Industrial Revolution. The Steamtown museum complex incorporates the remaining segments of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western roundhouse and locomotive repair shops.

Steamtown's train rides are offered seasonally in the form of short train rides within the railroad yard (Scranton Limited and Caboose Experience) or longer excursion rides to historic stations along both the Pocono and Carbondale lines. Short Train Rides: While advance purchase and registration is not available, tickets are still required for our short train rides and must be purchased on-site at Steamtown the day of your visit and paid for by credit card only, no cash sales. Excursion Rides: Due to their popularity, advance ticket purchases are highly recommended through this platform for our longer excursion rides.
