Melrose Mansion Guided Tour Melrose is one of the great houses of the American South, distinguished by its Greek Revival architecture, original furnishings, decorative arts, landscape, and outbuildings. Educational, Commercial, or Private group tours of 10 or more people must contact us at least three weeks prior to the proposed tour date so that we may schedule the necessary staff to conduct the tour and to block off the time in our calendar. (Group tours are limited to 55 people)
Teachers or Schools wishing to make reservations for education programs or tours of the mansion must fill out an Education Reservation Request Form (NPS form 10-1750) to determine if the requestor is eligible for an academic group fee waiver at least three weeks in advance of the proposed date. Please contact David Slay (David_Slay@nps.gov) or Melissa Tynes (Melissa_Tynes@nps.gov) for the fillable form.
Once your tour time and date have been confirmed by an administrator, we will open up the reservation slot for that time and date so that you may pay via credit card in advance. Cash and checks are not accepted.
Groups arriving later than 15 minutes after the tour start time may forfeit their opportunity to tour the Melrose mansion.
The park gates are opened at 8:30 a.m. and closed at 5 p.m. every day except for Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Since entrance to the park property is free, Annual and Lifetime Passes are NOT accepted for tours.
Please have a printed or digital copy of your reservation ticket available to be scanned by the tour guide at the back door of the mansion.
There is not overnight camping or parking allowed in the park. The gates are locked at 5 p.m.
There are no lifts in the mansion, therefore, the second floor of the mansion is NOT handicapped accessible.
There are two public restrooms on the grounds
Visitors who arrive more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted to the Melrose mansion.
A water fountain/bottle filling station is located inside the Melrose visitor center.
No more than 15 people are allowed in the mansion at one time.
Grounds and gardens are free and open every day from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Booking Window(s) • Primary Booking Window: Tickets are available 30 days in advance at 10 a.m. ET. Example: On June 1, tickets will be available for the dates of July 1. • OPTIONAL: Secondary Booking Window (if applicable): Tickets are also available twenty-four hours in advance at 10 a.m. ET on a rolling daily window. Example: On June 1, tickets will be available for June 2; on June 2 tickets will be available for June 3.
